Happy Bastille Day!

Looking Up

Today is the 14th of July.

Like every year, I expect to hear Rafales somewhere above Lille.

Last year, I looked up.

This year, I’ll do the same with the kids. Hopefully we’ll catch a glimpse.

Then we’ll enjoy a nice lunch. Flan, peaches, and a few other treats. It’s a day of celebration.

Work Doesn’t Stop

In the meantime, I’m writing CSS.

While the Air Force executes formation flying, I’m trying to convince a footer to align correctly.

Fun fact: Flying Fortress Games isn’t named after a bomber because bombers are cool. Sure, I have multiple copies of the B-17 at home, from tiny 1:2000 ones to 1:48 scales. But the name really comes from a fascination with aviation and engineering.

Whether it’s the Wright Cyclone radial engine of the Flying Fortress, the Mirage, the Rafale, the Morane-Saulnier, the Normandie, or Éric Tabarly’s Pen Duick, aircraft and ships have always represented the same thing to me: engineering in the service of a dream.

So today, while Rafales cross the French sky, I’m writing the footer of the Flying Fortress Games website.

Nobody cares about footers.

Yet here I am, polishing the footer of a company that doesn’t even have a commercial game released.

Because every bolt matters.

Every rivet matters.

Even the paint on an aircraft has weight.

Details matter.

Happy Bastille Day.
